How to use Sources and citation data

Learn how Sources works in AeoIX and how to use citation data to improve your AI visibility.

Written by Raj

Sources in AeoIX shows you which domains and URLs are being cited by AI platforms when they answer your tracked prompts. Understanding your sources helps you see what content is influencing AI-generated responses in your category.

What Sources shows

The Sources section has two views:

  • Domain — a list of domains that appear as citations in AI responses for your prompts

  • URLs — the specific pages being cited

Each entry shows how frequently a source appears, which prompts it is associated with, and its domain classification.

Why it matters

AI platforms cite sources when generating answers. The domains that appear most often as citations tend to have more influence on what AI says about your category.

Sources data helps you identify which websites to target for link building, PR, and content placement to improve your AI visibility.

Deeper source research

For more detailed analysis, use the Research section in the sidebar:

  • Citation Search — search for specific sources across your prompts

  • Top Pages — the most cited pages overall

  • Top Domains — the most cited domains overall

  • Backlinks Gap — identify citation sources your competitors have that you don't
